Always & Forever Books runs alwaysandforeverbooks.com, the website of children’s author Mary Brodsky. This page explains what information the site collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have a question about it, please write to us through our Contact page.
Contact form. When you send a message through the Contact page, we receive your name, email address, city, state and message. Your message is delivered by email to Mary and to the team that looks after this website, so that we can reply to you, and a copy is kept in the website’s form records. We use these details only to answer you, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.
Email list. If you join our list with the “Join Our List” form, your name and email address are added to our mailing list, which is hosted by Mailchimp (Intuit). The Contact form also has a “Sign up for our email list” box, which is ticked to begin with; leave it ticked to join, or untick it if you only want to send a message. We use the list to tell you about new books, events and book signings. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time.
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are viewed, the type of device and browser, the general area you visit from, how you found the site, and whether you click a “Buy on Amazon” or “Buy on Barnes & Noble” button or send one of our forms. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on, and you can read how Google uses this data in its partner sites policy.
Spam protection. The Contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to tell people from automated spam. reCAPTCHA collects information about your device and how you use the page, under Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Running and protecting the site. Like all websites, ours receives your IP address and browser details when you visit. Our hosting company (Nexcess) and our network provider (Cloudflare) use them to deliver pages and block attacks, and our security software keeps short-term logs of visits for the same reason.
Other services on our pages. The site’s fonts load from Google Fonts, event pages show a Google map, and the accessibility tool (UserWay) can remember the display settings you choose in your browser. Each of these services receives your IP address when it loads.
The “Buy on Amazon” and “Buy on Barnes & Noble” buttons take you to those stores, where their own privacy policies apply to anything you do there. We do not receive your name, address or payment details from those stores. If you ask through the Contact page to order a book from us directly, we use the details you send only to arrange and deliver your order.
Mary’s books are written for children, but this website is meant for parents, grandparents, teachers and other adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us their information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers named above, who handle it on our behalf, or when the law requires us to.
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the link in each email. You can also ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by writing to us through the Contact page. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under your state’s privacy laws, and we will honor them. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies; the site will still work without them.
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the date at the top.
